A 5-hour guided walk in Valley of Fire State Park with hotel pickup in Las Vegas and a group limited to 13 people.
Updated 22 October 2026
This Valley of Fire hiking tour from Las Vegas runs about 5 hours, with 4-hour and 6-hour versions of the same trip also offered, and the walking is the point of it. Departures are morning or afternoon, the group is capped at 13 people, and the hike comes in easy, moderate and difficult levels, picked when you book. The price starts at $129 per adult and covers hotel pickup and drop-off, a professional guide, snacks and bottled water.
The drive is roughly an hour each way, 55 miles north-east of the city, and the route takes in the Moapa River Indian Reservation and views of Lake Mead. On foot you are on Jurassic Aztec sandstone, passing petrified wood and American Indian petroglyphs in Nevada's first state park, which opened on Easter Sunday 1934. Where the schedule allows, the tour also stops at the Visitor Center, open daily 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., which is where staff post current trail and heat conditions.
Season decides how much trail you actually get. From 15 May to 30 September the park authority closes every trail longer than one mile as a heat-safety rule, which covers White Domes Loop, the Fire Wave and the Seven Wonders loop with Pink Canyon, Pinnacles Loop, Prospect Trail, Arrowhead Trail, Natural Arch Trail and Charlie's Spring; Mouse's Tank, at 0.75 mile, is not on that list. Hiking is not recommended above 85 F (29 C), summer highs commonly top 100 F, and the park names spring and autumn as the preferred seasons, so aim for roughly March to mid-May or October to November. The park also closes completely from 1 December to 14 December for maintenance, with guided tours prohibited inside those dates; in 2026 that runs Tuesday 1 December to Monday 14 December, and normal operations resume on Tuesday 15 December 2026.
Pack for walking rather than sightseeing: water and electrolytes matter here, water in the park is limited, and cell service exists only at the entrances, Fire Canyon Overlook, lot P3, the White Domes lot and the Atlatl Rock platform. Climbing on arches and petroglyph surfaces, including Arch Rock and Elephant Rock, is not allowed, and drones are banned park-wide. The minimum age for this tour is 8.
Hotel pickup and drop-off, a professional guide, snacks and water, and your choice of an easy, moderate or difficult hike in Valley of Fire State Park. Departures run morning or afternoon and the group stops at 13 people.

The 5-hour guided hike on this page is the straightforward choice for one or two walkers who want a set level and a small group. The two private options, 5 hours from $149 or 6 to 10 hours from $180, make sense for families, photographers and anyone who wants the stop list and the pace fixed to their own plan, and the longer one lets self-drivers meet at the Moapa Travel Plaza instead of being collected in the city.
The two vehicle-based day trips, 6 hours from $110 and 6 hours from $109, keep the walking short and cover the roadside stops, which is the better fit between mid-May and the end of September when the longer trails are shut.
