Driving is the whole point here. You sit behind the wheel of a modified Jeep Rock Crawler and follow the guide's lead jeep through the Logandale Trails System, in the Valley of Fire area: red sandstone, desert washes, rocky climbs and obstacles a normal car would never clear. Trail time is listed at 180 minutes, inside a total of 5.5 hours.
You do not need to have driven off-road before. Before you enter the trail the guide runs a safety briefing, goes through the jeep's features and hands over the radios, then talks you through the route from the vehicle ahead. Trails and obstacles are selected according to how comfortable and practised the group is, so the line can be kept easy or made harder as the morning goes on.
The Valley of Fire jeep tour starts from $448 per adult and is rated 4.5 ★ (16 reviews), the smallest review count among the off-road trips on this site. Drivers may switch during the tour when eligible, so a second qualified guest in the same jeep gets time at the wheel. Fuel, off-road fees, safety equipment, bottled water, snacks and a light picnic lunch on the trail are included, along with the photos and videos the guides take.
One practical point worth knowing: the driving happens on the Logandale trail system in the Valley of Fire area, not on the paved road through Valley of Fire State Park. If your priority is the Visitor Center, Fire Wave or the roadside formations, the half-day or guided-hike trips on this site go to those instead.
Jeep, fuel, off-road fees, safety gear, rugged radios, light picnic lunch, water and snacks are covered, and the guides' photos and videos come at no extra charge.

Four motorised options cover similar terrain in very different ways. The self-drive rock crawler on this page is the one that puts you in the driver's seat of a full-size jeep; the private 4WD trip is a shorter ride with a driver at 4 to 6 hours from $283; the two-person UTV runs 5.5 hours from $399 and seats a pair in an open buggy; the ATV quad trip is the cheapest and most physical of the four, 5.5 hours from $199 with three hours on the machine.
